Burot Beach: Silent Sanctuary

This trip to Burot beach has been long planned like we all gonna die if we cannot have it fulfilled. How would you feel if you are planning a trip for a very long time but seeing the day of fulfilling it is like a camel going through the eye of a needle. Frustrating, honestly.

Many have already gone to this place and most share it to their blogs which i religiously visit to be familiar of what to expect. I've been to a lot of beautiful beaches my life but this should not be an excuse to not appreciate this little gem.

After careful planning of our itinerary and a couple of changes of total headcounts, we finally hit the road through a decent rented van with working AC(unlike the last time) our lazy asses could die for gratefulness. Hehe, joke at that! The process of preparing beats the hell out of me specially when you know you are to blame when all else fails. Good thing, you get half of the task shared with few friends and making them feel as if this is like the last trips we've had --- always the first time.

We decided to wait for the van along EDSA at 5AM on a Sunday, a schedule where everyone agreed. We had everyone on board and trailed SCTEX on a sleepy Sunday morn(we took the SCTEX-Carmona exit-GMA route to Tagaytay due to one friend that lives in Binan, Laguna). We had a short stop at one of the gas stations in Tagaytay to make room for a short coffee/bio break. :p

After spending 20 minutes, we are back on the road with enough caffeine in our system to sustain the long trip and keep an eye on our GPS(thank heavens for the smartphones!). Our drivers depended on how accurately we are seeing that arrow making its way on the map and of course the strength of the mobile carrier's signal. We may have few mistakes in choosing whether we'll take left or right specially when network signal failed us but hey, we made it to Calatagan town market one-piece!

We alight from the van and bought the last of the stuff we need that we have on the list. That's where i found out that my iPhone was nowhere to be seen. Argh.

Armani look on as i scour the van for my dear phone. :(
Minutes later, i gave up. This should not destroy the mood that i have prepared for today but I cannot deny that I collectively invested almost 4 years of memories, old stuff, contacts and ka-jolog-san on that phone to say the least.

Once we hit the undeveloped access road you cannot help but notice The Road-ish feeling or Wrong Turn perhaps. The sight of the guard standing by the gate gives a sigh of relief. Whew! He counted us guests sans the drivers, ushered us in and told us we'll pay the fee to the guard that waited inside. We were charged 65/pax including children 7 years old and above. The heat was at its peak when we parked and carried our stuff to a nearby shade where we decided to settle our stuff down. Medyo madami ng tao when we arrived and mostly, like us, had their own transport since the place is far from the town proper. If you travel by bus and get off at Calatagan market, you can make arrangements with available tricycle drivers to take you and back for the price of 200php more or less.

Our spot. Gracious of the big shade courtesy of the tree.
We then started grilling the liempo we marinated the night prior and the fish we just bought. While food preparation is underway, some bought time by taking a splash to cool off at the clear waters or just plainly hangin' out at the shades of the tree. Kwentuhan, asaran, picturan.

When food was ready, we called everyone so we could feed our hungry stomachs. We ate until we stuff ourselves and beg for liempofood no more. The summer heat bites us one by one that we don't have a choice but dragged our asses to the open sea. It was that refreshing! Armani had his first swim and boy, I was so proud. I never knew he can do it. He swam. All by himself.

lookie! tough cutie.

We had squeezed in an afternoon snack to our tight-budget trip and had these..

and shared late noon drinks and when all was consumed while the sun slowly dips into the horizon, it was our cue to be back in the water and enjoy the remaining hours of our stay since we decided to leave on or before 6PM.

Sorry for the photo explosion but that's pretty much how our afternoon turned out. We hurried back to our spot and slowly picked up our stuff while others cleaned themselves before we leave for the day. There might be some downside to this place like we were not given an official receipt after paying or proper waste disposal to maintain the cleanliness of the area but what is there to not love when you're at the beach with friends creating good memories to remember and when its time to bid adieu, you got these...

breakdown of expenses:
700/pax - includes van rental, food, entrance fee and misc.

ciao,
