Of Diet and Boodle fight

i had a very tough week of late. i don't know if its because i'm being too hard on my self especially when it comes to eating. "Ang hirap magpapayat!" are complaints we always hear from a friend, colleague or from a family member who wants to stay fit but resisting "temptations" never comes to play. i guess i am guilty hence this post.

i've been on a personalized diet for over a year now. being a self-confessed carbo maniac, i find it very tedious at first. your normal breakfast-merienda-lunch-merienda-dinner and not-so-late night merienda chain is broken. like.definitely.for.real! blame it to the physician's advise i got over a year ago for being a stage 1 obese! i know, right?! i was told to stick on low-calorie diet program which i have maintained a good relationship right now. heheh! I guess love then is just about patience,no?

but allow me to share photos taken on my "cheat days" where my couple of friends and I decided to do a not-so-fancy boodle fight.

we headed to plaridel, bulacan to meet up with our friend who's gonna be our host for the day and decided to make a quick stop at the Barasoain church to hear mass have our pictures taken! lols for the turista shot.

this was taken at casa real. there were tour buses parked by the street when we got there and found out they're on an educational tour. so much for gate-crashing!

our hosts for the day. my friend's bf happens to be a bulakenyo. they are now on their biggest project yet - building a family they can call their own! the bonus is that she's about 6 months pregnant. lucky, lucky, lucky!

i guess the sign says it all. most likely. :D

off we went to a nearby wet market and bought the goods needed. i love markets. they offer the cheapest finds and although vendors will drive you crazy sometimes but hey, that's what market is all about. in less than an hour, we had crabs, shrimps, fruits, a couple of veggies and about 3 kilos of chicken in tow.

i'd like to call this a crab shot! well, for obvious reason. sorry crabby but you're every inch deliscioso!

thank heavens we had watermelons that day. it surely helps ease the afternoon heat we felt that day. and they're sweet too.

i burned the chicken! i can see it in their faces when i volunteered to do it. but mind you, those burnt skin plus the sauce PJ made was a blast. it is like a song and dance! ang sarap nian, promise!

the not-so-breaded shrimp. i asked why and told that shrimps like these doesn't need much breading mix to achieve that commercial taste. kasi kahit konti lang, malasa na sha. indeed, it is!

and the sinful crab. i love this dish too! the taste of the coconut milk, squash, malunggay and the crab is without a doubt the winner. but eating dishes like this one requires patience and a bit of strength. you know why. :)

a perfect boodle fight is eating with your bare hands. did you wash yours, sean?

the much required shot after the hard work and onto reaping the fruits of our labor.

oh! we had pineapples pala!

and this last batch of chicken cuts are the hardest to cook. its almost like they're being stubborn over the fire. but PJ's on it.

and i had a boo-boo for getting very near at a rice cooker. silly me how can i forget that. i'm the one cooking  it.

overall, we had to just sit down, and loose some buttons to my our bulging bellies content. an afternoon filled with friends, music, foods and laughter makes up a good memory.

and what did you do this weekend?

ciao,

tristan
