Hidden Garden, Vigan

“Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? Or do we want to eat without fear, tearing into the local stew, the humble taqueria's mystery meat, the sincerely offered gift of a lightly grilled fish head? I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.”
― Anthony Bourdain, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly

after our short stop at the Pagburnayan pottery, we had our lunch at the Hidden Garden Vigan. when we arrived, we were welcomed and i can't wait to order. i thought at first it was just some ordinary marriage of karenderiya and garden but i was wrong. its plants/flowers on display(also for sell) are beauties on their own right. they have an altar, a lover's corner, swing, birds on display, some animals and their powder room that amazes me.

after we were comfortably seated at our table, we knew the food will not be served right away. i decided to explore the place and took some pictures. who would've thought such a nice hang-out place exists makes you wish we have one like this in the metro. Maybe, there is and I am yet to know that.

the place was well kept and its greenery is a delight to your eyes. we went back to our table where our food were served in a clay pot shortly. these are some of what we ordered:

(l-r) maan, tour guide/driver, pam, gelo, cheann and mack.
maan decided to play santa and voluntarily paid our bill. freeloaders, much?hehe. before exiting this nice place, we took pictures at their thai-inspired nook.

and their kalesa-esque garden chairs/bench.

and there's our exit!

if you happen to travel in Ilocos, please drop by at the hidden garden in vigan. experience this romantic place with your friends or loved ones. you check them here.

ciao,

tristan
